4th Annual Beartooth Burn |
|
This road race utilizes the formidable elevations and unparalleled splendor of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. Racers begin in the mountain town of Red Lodge, at an elevation of 5,555 feet and continue up the switchbacks of the Beartooth Pass, through some of the most beautiful alpine scenery in the lower 48 states, finishing at the Vista Point scenic outlook, at an elevation of more than 9,200 feet. The highway, a designated National Scenic Byway, described by Charles Kuralt as "the most beautiful roadway in America," sets the course for this demanding, uphill competition continues on to the Northeast entrance of Yellowstone Park.
